Teeth Whitening

Your smile is one of the first things that people notice about you, and having your teeth professionally whitened is an easy way to a brighter, more pleasing smile.

Our teeth naturally darken with age through a combination of our diet staining our teeth and the white enamel wearing away revealing the darker dentine underneath

The procedure is safe, simple and affordable; in fact, it’s probably the most cost-effective and straightforward cosmetic improvement you’re ever likely to choose and the difference it makes can be remarkable – hardly surprising, then, that tooth whitening has become so popular in recent years.

Is it safe?

Teeth whitening involves a safe chemical process that uses oxygen to break down stain molecules in the surface of the teeth, whitening the teeth.
Dentist supervised home whitening offers a safer, more effective alternative to shop bought kits as the mouth trays are designed to fit you comfortably and securely, allowing the active gel to work more effectively. It can also be carried out at times to suit you, in the comfort of your own home.

Is there pain or discomfort?

You may experience some sensitivity but this is not long lasting. To minimise sensitivity we use 10% Carbamide Peroxide.

How long does the whitening last?

As a general guide, the whitening will last for 3-5 years. Some patients will want a ‘top up’ during that time – a very easy process as the trays have already been made.

Will fillings, crowns, veneers and dentures whitening?

The procedure only works on natural teeth and has no effect on any type restoration. As part of your initial consultation we will discuss the possibility of replacing old veneers, crowns or fillings in order to blend them with your newly-lightened teeth.
